The 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference in Tokyo presents:
Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition 2005
Richard Rogers is to judge a major international competition, bringing together the very best in sustainable architectural design.
He will judge the competition in conjunction with the renowned architect, Tadao Ando. Sustainability has been key consideration within both architect’s work and they share a commitment to promote it within the wider industry.
The competition will mark the 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference to be held in Tokyo, September 29th 2005. Currently, the building sector consumes 30 to 50% of the earth’s resources and energy, which highlights the importance of ensuring best practice in sustainable design is shared and implemented.
There will be two parts to the judging of the competition. Tadao Ando and Richard Rogers will select three finalists for the first stage of the competition. The finalists will present their proposals at the conference and a jury will choose the winner, to be announced in the December issue of Shinkenchiku and The Japan Architect.
