Terminal 5 wins Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence
Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport has received the Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence, the Awards' highest accolade, as well as a Structural Award in the Commercial building category. The winning and commended projects were announced at the Structural Awards gala dinner on Friday 14 November 2008.
This year, over 80 projects from around the world were nominated across 12 different categories. Some 19 awards were presented at the dinner. The broad range of categories is designed to reflect the industry's diversity and specialisation. The Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence is for the finest example of structural engineering design across the categories.
The Structural Awards were established in 1968 and are the world's leading awards for structural engineering excellence. Organised annually by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Awards aim to recognise excellence in structural design and showcase projects that lead the industry's development.
