Canary Wharf Riverside South
The site for the Riverside South development is located in the Canary Wharf area of East London on the western side of the Isle of Dogs immediately to the south of Westferry Circus, with a substantial frontage onto the River Thames. This prestigious site, one of the last remaining riverfront areas in the Canary Wharf precinct, has been identified as an appropriate location for tall buildings in the draft London Plan and as such will be visible from a number of viewpoints within central London as well as local boroughs. The high-rise development will avoid compromising long distance views of existing Canary Wharf buildings and will add to and compliment the existing skyline, without having any impact on protected view corridors to St Paul’s Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster.
The client, Canary Wharf Group, commissioned RRP to prepare development proposals for a high quality office development appropriate to the site and of a size to compliment the scale and density of Canary Wharf. The brief includes high quality public facilities at ground level along the river edge, with office, trading and ancillary support accommodation at the upper levels and parking, servicing and plant below ground.
