Practice Project Technology Leader

 RSHP are looking to recruit an experienced Microstation and Bentley Architecture user who can support the practice in the implementation of effective 3D working methods. The practice has already invested in 3D working methods on a number of its existing projects and is seeking someone who is able to able to facilitate and mentor its next generation of project teams in building information modelling and management.

The key objectives and activities of the new role would include:-

  • Promoting and supporting the implementation of 3D working method across all appropriate projects.
  • Ensure that users are regularly assessed for project based training needs and that new starters complete the CADsmart or Knowledgesmart assessment and that any appropriate training considerations are implemented. Dovetail with HR as appropriate within the appraisal process to review training needs requirements and prioritise with projects as appropriate.
  • Establishing stage based project protocols with the objective to make sure that projects are setup effectively and are able to invest and take into account good practice methods.
  • Capture and documentation of good CAD practices and the support of their exploitation across the practice. Promotion of the appropriate use of scripting and the automation of good practice tools as well as the links to data output from 2D and 3D models to schedules, databases and other analysis applications.
  • Manage and prioritise the workload of the CAD co-ordinator.
  • Management of the scope of our third party CAD consultant’s input to support projects and train users based upon project priorities. Deliver training and workshops where appropriate.
  • Work to ensure a healthy debate amongst the user and management community within the practice of the benefits of the effective utilisation of the practices CAD platforms.
  • Review future trends in the use of Project Technology and ensure that the practice has the opportunity to debate their impact and potential implementation.
  • Liaise with other support groups, including the IT team, as appropriate in the integration of good practice between Project Technology usage, licenses and hardware, document control requirements and the graphics team’s outputs.

 An individual passionately engaged with the effective application of technology within a challenging design environment.

 An individual capable of successfully balancing a variety of activities alongside the sensitive handling of team members and professional users whilst engaged in a pressurised project based environment.

Summer Placements

 RSHP offers summer placement positions for the academic vacation period between June and September. They are for students studying architecture who are between 4th & 5th year at university. Applications for summer placements should send a CV and some work samples showing a range of skills and abilities from freehand sketching to computer work. All applications should contain some material from the final degree project and 4th year. Hard copy applications are preferred.

Work Experience

The RSHP work experience programme runs throughout the summer. Students aged 14-18 can apply to spend a week with the practice where they are given the opportunity to design their own project and experience what being an architect involves. The final product is a model and sketches.

Year Out Placements

RSHP offers year out placements for students who have finished their third year at university. The students are assigned individual mentors and have the chance to work in various areas within the office. The first three weeks in the office include a training period in the Digital Resources team and induction to the procedures of the office. Students then start working with one of the architectural teams. Throughout the year, students learn about the various functions of the office. UK and international site visits are a crucial part of the year out experience. Applications for year out placements should send a CV and some work samples showing a range of skills and abilities from freehand sketching to computer work. All applications should contain some material from the final degree project. Hard copy applications are preferred.
